This past weekend I headed up to Bayfield for the 10th annual Bayfield Volksfest show in the scenic Clan Gregor Square. I've gone to Volksfest almost every year and each time the show is more impressive than the time before!
Tons of cars, great vendors, a whole host of food trucks, and an enthusiastic crowd make Volksfest a fantastic end to the car show season.
One thing I did differently this year was wear polarized sunglasses while using a polarizing filter. Lesson learned, it doesn't work very well.
Goderich Lancaster
On the 60th anniversary of its arrival, the Avro Lancaster bomber owned and flown by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum returned to the Goderich Airport.
I went on the Saturday which turned out to be the less busy of the two days. It was a great chance to see the Lancaster up close, and I figured out the vibration reduction wasn’t working on my telephoto.
South Huron Flight
During an unseasonably warm weekend in February my buddy Dan asked if I wanted to go up and do some aerial photography practice before our schedules got busy in the spring and summer. There’s not much that will stop me from saying yes to shooting out the open side of his kit Piper J-3 Cub replica.
We ended up circling Exeter before flying over to Hensall, Dashwood, and the Port Blake shoreline before landing at dusk. It was a lot colder than I expected, but still a great time.
Bayfield Volksfest
After the pomp and circumstance of Cobble Beach, Bayfield Volksfest is usually a nice end to the car show season. Cooler weather, a picturesque setting, and a more casual atmosphere all make the show one I try not to miss.
This year the show was as advertised with a ton of Volkswagens of all types and trims. The weather was roasting hot, but there were more cars and people than ever!
