Summer Trees and Train Spotting

The weather finally cooperated to get the summer photo of the six trees outside Hickson, Ontario. Back in the spring I could have sworn the field was planted with wheat, but luckily it wasn’t too hard to hold the tripod up above my head!

On the way back I popped down to the CN line in Beachville before heading up to Stratford and home.

Niagara Falls Weekend

Earlier this month I spent a weekend in Niagara Falls visiting family and hanging out.

It had been a while since I last visited the area, and I managed to get a few tourist photos before getting back to the highway traffic.

Toronto Motorsports Park

With things reopening around Ontario, I finally managed to get over to the Toronto Motorsports Park outside Cayuga.

They were supposed to be running a test and tune night, track laps, and drag racing, but rain cancelled all but a couple of circuit laps. It was great to get out either way, and I’m looking forward to going back under sunny skies!

Lake Erie Night

During the summer months the Milky Way rises in the South, and there’s only so many spots in Southwestern Ontario where you can face south without much light pollution.

The Lake Erie shoreline is a good bet, though even at some points the lake is narrow enough to get a glow from across the lake. I headed down to Turkey Point and was pretty pleased with how accessible the shoreline was, and how dark it was too.

While I was there the OPP were conducting a search and rescue operation for a boy who had gone missing during the day. I didn’t know what it was at the time, and took several photos of the flares off Turkey Point.
