Friday Morning Trains

Headed down towards New Hamburg to get a photo of a train I always hear while working, but have never seen.

It only runs during the week, and since I was starting a new teaching job on Monday I spent a chilly Friday morning waiting to spot the Via Rail train that runs from Stratford to Toronto.

Preston Springs Hotel Demolition

A couple people had sent me articles about the demolition of the Preston Springs Hotel in Cambridge. I drove down to see it and demolition was already well underway.

The story is one that happens often. A real estate developer buys a neglected heritage property, holds onto it for a few years, and then states there’s nothing to be done and tears the building down. In the world of heritage conservation it’s called “demolition by neglect.”

CP Holiday Train

Spent a Friday night chasing this year’s Canadian Pacific Holiday Train from Cambridge, to Ayr, to London.

A good test of my scheduling and night photography skills, but I need some more panning shot practice!

Cruising on King - Evening

In the evening the Cruising on King participants paraded through downtown Kitchener before parking along King Street. Not only was it a great car show, but offered the rare chance to photograph classic cars at night.
